Talent talk

Talent Talk is a series of panel talks and a collaboration between Textile Movement Talent at Lindholmen Science Park and Röhsska Museum of Design and Craft, co-funded by Västra Götalandsregionen and supported by a wide network of contributing partners.

The purpose of these talks is for us to come together as a community and gather experts to share insights and perspectives on a particular topic within textiles and fashion. By starting a transparent conversation and spotlighting the potential as well as the challenges we face in our industry today, we believe we can raise awareness, inspire and find collaboration to accelerate circular solutions.

Damien Ajavon 3 september 2026

“School did not teach me craft. Community did.”

This was one of the reflections shared by textile designer and artist Damien Ajavon during a fully booked Talent Talk at the Röhsska Museum of Design and Craft.

During the evening conversation, Damien spoke about how craft communities have helped him develop his practice and find his way across different countries, cultures and disciplines.

Earlier that day, Damien and HDK-Valand held a workshop for participants in the talent programme. He shared his experiences of working with everyone from large organisations to individual craftspeople. The participants explored what it takes to make a collaboration work and how to find a fair balance between giving and receiving.

During his visit to West Sweden, Damien also visited the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås and XV Production to learn more about the expertise and opportunities available here. We also introduced him to designer Kelly Konings, one of the creatives featured in the magazine This Is Your Designer.

We hope these meetings will lead to new connections and collaborations.
